Madras Christian College

Madras Christian College or MCC has a large 365-acre campus and is known for its flora and fauna, rare trees and deer. The college also has a lake on campus. The area is Asia’s second largest scrub jungle and is actively used by Botany and Zoology departments for practical work. The college offers around 25 undergraduate courses and has over 5000 students. It was founded in 1837 and is one of the oldest extant colleges in Asia. Admission into some of the courses such as B.Sc. in Visual Communication is through an entrance test and personal interview. The college was given an A+ rating by the NAAC.

Ranking
The college was ranked 6th for science courses, 4th for Science 9th for journalism, and 6th for humanities courses, 10th for Commerce in India by the India Today magazine in the year 2017.
Clubs and Societies
Madras Christian College has a College Union Society that cares for the welfare of the students. It is responsible for organising and conducting student-centric activities such as college auditions, intercollegiate cultural festivals, college and inter-department sport activities, literary and debating events, etc. The college also has a Scrub Society for the development and preservation of the botanical garden. NCC (National Cadet Corps) and NSS (National Service Scheme) units are also supported by the college. Two credits are awarded to the students for participating in NSS volunteering activities.
Halls of Residence
The college has several halls of residence which include the Selaiyur Hall, the St. Thomas's Hall, the Bishop Heber Hall, the Agnes Martin Hall, and the Margaret Hall. Wardens are appointed at all the halls and the rooms are provided with a table, a chair, a cot, a book shelf and a stool. The halls organise their own activities for the students. Students can avail several facilities including indoor games rooms, libraries, playgrounds and gymnasiums.
Placement Cell
The placement cell at the college facilitates interaction between organisations and students. The cell not only looks into placement of the students, but also the training and grooming of students for interviews. Campus interviews generally start in September. Some of the companies where students have been placed include Goldman Sachs, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Tata Consultancy Services, Google India, D.E. Shaw, Titan, and Reliance Capital.Madras Christian College has always been one of the most preferred sources for campus recruitment for Corporates and other recruiters, both Indian and Overseas. It is a matter of pride that the Alumni of Madras Christian College are now business heads, and even global leaders. Ms Indra Nooyi, the Chairperson of the PepsiCo World is a prime example of the leadership qualities that MCC always guaranteed.Globalization opened up job market like never before, and the demand for graduates and Postgraduates from Arts & Science Colleges, is increasing day by day. Some of the corporate houses are looking for mass recruitments for their facilities all over the world. There is no shortage of jobs in the present scenario, although there is a clear shortage of qualified employable candidates from the colleges. 
Generally, campus interviews start in the month of September and go upto early March each year. Selection process starts in the morning and ends by the evening with the offer letters being issued to selected candidates.Listed below are some the regular companies that turn to MCC for Recruitments:
